In-Line Safety Valve Testing Equipment
Test Safety Valves In-Line — Without Removing Them From Service
AccuTEST allows technicians to test pressure safety valves (PSVs) and pressure relief valves (PRVs) while they remain installed and operating under normal process conditions.
A computer-controlled electric drive applies precise lift force while AccuTEST measures the valve’s response and calculates set pressure.
The result: accurate, repeatable testing with less downtime, less handling, and fewer resources.
AccuTEST can also be used as a lift-assist system for bench testing, giving valve service companies one platform for both in-line and bench applications.
Test in-line. Test on the bench. Use the same AccuTEST system.

How In-Line Safety Valve Testing Works
In-line safety valve testing—also called in-situ or online testing—allows a valve’s set pressure to be verified without removing the valve.
A lift-assist device applies a measured external force to the valve stem while operating pressure acts beneath the valve disc. Using these measurements and the valve characteristics, the system determines the valve’s set pressure.
This allows testing without requiring the process itself to reach full set pressure.
Built for Repeatable Results
An accurate load cell is important. But sensor accuracy alone does not determine the repeatability of the complete test.
AccuTEST controls key factors that can influence the result:
Computer-Controlled Electric Lift
Smooth, controlled force application reduces operator-dependent variation and provides consistent force application from test to test.
Self-Aligning
Load Rig
The rig is designed to align lift force with the valve stem, helping minimize side loading during the test.
High-Accuracy Measurement
Temperature-compensated load and pressure sensors support a broad range of valve sizes and operating pressures.
Load cell accuracy: ±0.075% FS
Automated
Testing
AccuTEST controls lift force, monitors measurements, calculates the result, and records the test data automatically.
One System for In-Line and Bench Testing
In-Line / In-Situ Testing
Test PSVs and PRVs while they remain installed under operating pressure—reducing the need for valve removal and process downtime.
Bench Testing
Use AccuTEST as a lift-assist system with a safety valve test bench. The test bench provides the pressure source while AccuTEST provides controlled lift force, measurement, calculations, and reporting.
For valve service companies that perform both field and bench testing, the same AccuTEST platform can support both applications—providing consistency in equipment, testing methodology, training, and documentation.
Designed for One-Technician Operation
AccuTEST’s electric drive generates and controls the required lift force automatically, allowing a qualified technician to perform the test without manually generating lifting force.
For applications where direct technician control is preferred, Manual Mode provides operator control while using the same AccuTEST measurement system.

Automatic Digital Test Reports
A valve test should provide more than PASS or FAIL.
AccuTEST automatically records test information and generates a digital record of valve performance, including measured values and calculated set pressure.
Consistent electronic reporting makes it easier to document results across valves, technicians, and testing locations.
Comparing Safety Valve Testing Equipment?
Don’t compare sensor specifications alone. Consider the complete testing process:
· How is lift force generated and controlled?
· How does the rig maintain alignment?
· What is the load-cell accuracy?
· How much does the test depend on technician technique?
· Is testing automated?
· Can one technician perform the test?
· Can the system be used both in-line and for bench testing?
· How are results documented?
· What calibration, repair, and engineering support is available?

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a safety valve lift-assist device?
A lift-assist device applies and measures external force on the valve stem during testing. Combined with the pressure acting beneath the valve disc, this allows the valve’s set pressure to be determined without requiring the process itself to reach full set pressure.
Can safety valves be tested without removing them?
Yes. In-line safety valve testing allows a PSV or PRV to be tested while it remains installed on the process.
Can AccuTEST be used for bench testing?
Yes. AccuTEST can be used as a lift-assist system with a safety valve test bench, allowing the same equipment and software platform to support both in-line and bench testing.
What is the difference between in-line and bench safety valve testing?
In-line testing is performed while the valve remains installed on the process. Bench testing is performed with the valve connected to a safety valve test bench, typically in a controlled shop environment.
Bench testing is commonly used for valves that have been removed for inspection, repair, calibration, or other service. In-line testing can verify set pressure without requiring valve removal.
What affects safety valve test repeatability?
Factors include sensor accuracy and calibration, lift-force application, rig alignment, side loading, valve condition, test procedure, and technician influence.
Does in-line testing replace bench testing?
No. The two methods serve different maintenance needs. In-line testing can verify set pressure without removing the valve, while bench testing may be appropriate when a valve requires removal, inspection, repair, or other service.
Can one technician perform an AccuTEST test?
Yes. AccuTEST is designed for one-technician operation. The computer-controlled electric drive generates and controls lift force during automated testing.
Accurate. Repeatable. Documented.
AccuTEST combines high-accuracy measurement with computer-controlled electric lift, a self-aligning load rig, automated calculations, digital reporting, and one-technician operation.
In-line or on the test bench, use one testing platform built for consistent safety valve testing.
